Terms and Conditions
- The Toy Library is open to all residents of
Wokingham District including childcare and play providers and children’s
groups. Signatories must be 18 or over. Residents from other areas are welcome
to join at our discretion.

(including 1 with a current address) e.g. driving licence, bank
statement with bank card, current within the last 3 months.
- Toy Library membership is valid for one
year. Current membership charges are displayed in the library and further information is available here

Toys and equipment are available for loan for a period of 4 weeks, with
the exception of party loans which are for 1 week. Current rental
charges are displayed in the library.
- Library
members are responsible for all items borrowed from the library. Items
must be returned in the same condition they were borrowed. They must be
clean and in a good state of repair. Where an item is returned broken
or incomplete, the Toy Library reserves the right to make a charge.
Items must be returned to the Toy Library during opening hours. Members
are asked not to return toys to The Ambleside Centre or outside the Toy
Library when either are closed. The Toy Library insurance does not
cover the breakage, non return, loss or theft of an item once removed
from the Toy Library under loan by a member.
- Batteries: where included, the library will
make sure the batteries are working but cannot guarantee they will last the 4
week loan period.
- Fines will be charged for overdue items. The
current rate of fines is displayed in the library. Renewal of items is at the
discretion of the librarian and depends on demand for the item in question.
When an item is renewed, the rental charge must be paid again for the further
loan.
- Fees, fines and rental charges will
contribute to maintaining the library but will not be sufficient to maintain
the service on their own. Failure to pay for fines, fees and replacement
charges will result in suspension of membership and may lead to
prosecution.
- Members of the Toy Library are eligible to
use the on-site Scrapstore which provides scrap materials for creative play.
Charges are displayed in the library.
- All information held by the library is
protected under the Data Protection Act 2001.
- Members of the library will be expected to
abide by the Terms and Conditions and will be reminded of these as necessary.
- Safety: responsibility will not be accepted
for any loss, injury or damage caused by or arising from any misuse or any toys
or equipment borrowed from the Toy Library.
- Supervision: parents and carers are
responsible for their children whilst at the Toy Library.
- The
Lend and Play Toy Library is a registered charity, managed by a
voluntary management committee. We work in partnership with Wokingham
Borough Council and the service is operated by WBC staff under a
Service Level Agreement
